I just wanted to let you know I have Re-vamped my very first pattern I released on Etsy, the Patchwork Clamshell Zipper Pouch.

This Pattern is extra special to me as it is the first one, I ever released. But after looking over it compared to my more recent patterns, I was not happy with the layout of this pattern or the way the bag held its shape. So, I’ve re-shot all the step by step photos and reformatted the layout into a much more user friendly form. I’ve also changed the interfacing I used for the pouch, so it now holds its shape and stands on its own.
It still has the bold hand quilting which I love. Of course, you don’t have to do this at all if you don’t wish.

I also added a sweet faux leather tag at the bottom of the bag. This is an optional extra I’ve included that adds a cute touch.

You can also add the Scrappy Fabric Tassel to the zipper pull like I have using my FREE tutorial you can find here.

If you’ve never sewn clamshells before and have no clue how to start or are feeling a bit intimidated. That’s ok, you can use my FREE tutorial you can find here, on how to sew clamshells using the EPP (English paper piecing) method.

This sample I made using Lecien Flower Sugar Very Berry Cherry. I love the bold colours of this fabric line and how well it contrasts with the linen bottom of the bag.
I think my favourite thing about the whole re-vamp is that the bag now stands up and holds its shape. Just like magic, thanks to the right interfacing. Of course, you don’t have to do this, you can just use cotton batting like I did in the original pattern if it’s not a concern.
You can find the re-vamped pattern in my Etsy store, which I now have 25% OFF over the next 5 days. Sale ends at 12:00pm AEST.
Happy sewing, Kellie.
