I just thought I would write a post and introduce you to the first ever Ma & Me Designs PDF sewing pattern, the scrappy clamshell zipper pouch. I decided i wanted to write up a pattern and share with you all after having a lot of interest over on Instagram. I’ve thought about selling original patterns for a while now and have finally taken the plunge. So thank you to all you lovely makers out there for the inspiration and giving me the confidence to give it a go.
Here it is, my scrappy clamshell zipper pouch. This pattern is suitable for confident beginners right through to sewing experts.
If you’ve always wanted to make a zipper pouch but didn’t know where to begin, this pattern is for you. It offers lots of little tips so you can easily get a perfect finish, to make your first zipper pouch complete with boxed corners.

This sweet pouch is a great handmade gift, swap project for you sewing swaps or simply make one for yourself to adore. It’s bright and colourful and large enough to be used as a toiletry bag or make up bag, or you can use it to store your latest sewing project while travelling. It has boxed corners so opens nice and wide and has plenty of room to stash all your on the go sewing essentials.

This project uses a combination of English paper piecing and machine stitching, as well as hand quilting. so a little bit of everything to satisfy your sewing needs. It’s a great introduction and little taste tester to English paper piecing with clamshells, especially if you have been too intimidated to tackle a big clamshell project. If you don’t want to do clamshells? No worries, you can still use this pattern to make a boxed zipper pouch of the same size using any kind of patchwork panels you desire.

Did I mention it’s also a great scrap busting project and can be easily made from small pieces of fabric scraps and customised however you desire. Its finished size measures 14” high by 9 “ wide.
If you purchase the pouch project you will receive a 15 page PDF format pattern with tutorial-style instructions, full colour photographs and handy hints and tips to help you along the way. You can find the pattern by going to my Etsy shop where it will be available for immediate download once payment has been received.
