Oh how I love drawstring pouches or dilly bags or whatever you want to call them. I think they must be one of my favourite things to make.

I managed to finally make my strawberry and apple appliqué panels into two sweet matching apple and strawberry drawstring pouches.
I love the simplicity of Raw edge appliqué and I may be a little obsessed with that black and white low volume polka dot fabric I used for the background too. It just goes so well with everything, a sweet score from my local spotlight store.

One thing I don’t use enough of in my sewing which id like to use more is solids. So instead of using a patterned fabric for the drawstring casing, I decided to stick with a solid pink and purple from my stash.
But the best part is probably yet to come…
Check out these matching fruit label fussy cuts on the opposite side of each pouch, using one of my favourite Atsuko Matsuyama fabrics.

I’ve been busting to use these fussy cuts for a while now, and these pouches finally felt like the perfect opportunity. I framed each one with a stripy aqua border because what could be better then Aqua stripes and polka dots.
I love adding ribbon tags/embellishments to my makes for something a little extra special and so each pouch got a different coloured striped one just down from the casing. It was too hard to pick one colour for both pouches and the black and white drawstring seemed like the perfect finishing touch.

I’m loving raw edge appliqué at the moment and if you’re interested, both the strawberry and apple appliqué templates are available in my Etsy Shop for less than a cup of coffee.
Happy Sewing, Kellie. X.
